Barnes Auctioneers Announce Pre-Sale Days

Barnes Auctioneers announce that from June 2009 we will host monthly Pre-Sale Days at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich. The Pre-Sale Days will support the monthly General Auction by providing a formal opportunity for our customers to engage with us prior to the Sale. Vendors will be able to enter their lots into the forthcoming General Auction. They will also benefit from free valuations and advice about the selling process. Buyers will be able to view highlighted lots from the forthcoming General Auction. There will also be an interesting mix of antiques and collectables for sale on the day so do pop in to see what we have to offer.

The first Pre-Sale Day will take place on Saturday, 6th June between 8am and 6pm, and replace The Cloisters Fair due to be held on that day. The Cloisters Fair will, until further notice, stall on just one Saturday a month from June 2009, in order to accommodate the Pre-Sale Days, in addition to every Wednesday. Our revised dates for June 2009 are as follows:

1. Wed 3rd June - The Cloisters Fair
2. Sat 6th June - Pre-Sale Day
3. Wed 10th June - tba*
4. Wed 17th June - The Cloisters Fair
5. Thurs 18th June - General Auction
6. Sat 20th June - The Cloisters Fair
7. Wed 24th June - The Cloisters Fair

The Pre-Sale Days are yet another sign of our commitment to providing customers with a bespoke and personal service. We hope to see you at St Andrew's Hall soon.

*Please note that The Cloisters Fair will not stall on Wednesday, 10th June as St Andrew's Hall is not available to us. We are exploring other venues/options and will make an announcement soon.

Sale Report May 2009

Last Thursday's General Auction demonstrated that Barnes Auctioneers is able to offer the right balance of ensuring that our sellers achieve excellent results whilst at the same time making sure that our buyers manage to pick up a bargain or two.
Let's start with the sellers: how about a postcard album with no reserve, expected to sell for between £60 and £80, achieving £390? Or a set of four post-war Suffolk Regiment medals making £280 when the vendor was expecting little more than £50? But as always, it's the less obvious sales that clock up a decent return for the sellers, like the painted coffee table (lot 152) that sold for £48 with a reserve of just £12.
Buyers left with a smile on their face too - how about a job lot of glass including two Georgian rummers for £5? Or a tribal spear for £1. Or an antique Kodak camera for £18?
Our General Sales, which incorporate antiques, books, collectables, furniture, jewellery, pictures, and much much more, are going from strength to strength and we are already looking forward to our next auction on Thursday, 18th June. The observant amongst you will instantly realise that to be the third Thursday of the month (usually our auction is held on the second Thursday of the month) but we have had to change this time round only because St Andrew's Hall is not available to us on the previous week.
Business as usual tomorrow at The Cloisters Fair. We will be offering some unsold lots from Thursday, and paying out for those sellers who supported us during May. So do pop along to St Andrew's Hall in Norwich between 8am and 3pm to see us.
