General Sale Report - 9th October 2008

Our first sale at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich was a huge success, with quality antiques and collectables shining through on the saleroom floor.

We were overwhelmed with entries, a stunning array that included everything from a George III mahogany writing table to a Victorian cased barn owl, a solid gold gentleman's evening stick to a 1950's ventriloquist's dummy, pictures by Beryl Cook, Mike Randall, and Shirley Carnt, and a fine selection of Delftware, Royal Doulton, Beswick, Spode, etc.

One lot that attracted a great deal of attention was the limited edition signed print "Dining in Paris" by Beryl Cook (pictured) which made £410 on the day. A good result for the seller and the buyer, and an indication of our intention to ensure that Barnes Auctioneers' General Sales are regarded as amongst the best quality in East Anglia.

The George III mahogany writing table fell a little short of it's reserve, but has been re-entered into our next sale on Thursday, 13th November 2008, when we expect it to do very well.
